What is Play Up?
“Play Up!” is a monthly board game event where the focus is on socializing and playing new games. The event takes place on the second Saturday of every month, from 18:00 till midnight, in Kralingen, Rotterdam. It emphasizes the values of meeting new people and trying new games, hence “Play Up!” which combines “play” with “meeting up”

For whom?
“Play Up!” is an event that brings people together to socialize and play new board games. The event welcomes individuals of all backgrounds, cultures, and ages, with most attendees being between 18 and 50. The games played are primarily in English, although some Dutch games may also be played. The event is wheelchair-friendly, LGBTQ-friendly, and (vegan) snacks will be available.
While hardcore gamers are welcome, the focus of Play Up! is on those who enjoy board games as a social activity. And our game collection also reflects this, with a wide range of games that are easy to learn, fun to play, and perfect for socializing with friends, but we also have heavier strategic games for people who are curious about those.
If you’re looking for new games and the opportunity to meet new people from the area, “Play Up!” is the perfect event for you.
How do we play?
At “Play Up!”, we encourage mingling and meeting new people. We encourage attendees to invite people they don’t know to join their game, or to ask others if they can join in on their game. This way, even if you come to the event alone, you will not have to worry about not having anyone to play with. However, if you do come with a group, we encourage you to split up and play with different people. But if you prefer, you can also just play with your friends. The event is designed to be flexible and accommodating to everyone’s preferences.
